Policy

Hills Waste Solutions Ltd and Hills Quarry Products Ltd are committed to the improvement of the management and operation of their core business activities which impact on the environment.  They will achieve this by:

  • Complying with the spirit as well as the letter of the law regarding environmental legislation by following approved Codes of Practice and ensuring full co-operation and good working relationships with all relevant regulatory bodies;
  • Carrying out their business of: mineral extraction, processing and delivery; waste management - collection, recycling / reuse and disposal; concrete production and distribution in a sustainable manner to limit any adverse effects on the environment and encouraging positive environmental benefits wherever practicable;
  • Maintaining an Environmental Management System throughout their core business activities. This will include comprehensive monitoring and auditing programmes to assist in progressively reducing any impacts on key environmental areas from the Companies’ operations;
  • Seeking to prevent and limit environmental accidents and maintaining emergency procedures in case such accidents should occur;
  • Fostering a through understanding of the environmental issues arising from the Companies’ activities amongst their employees, suppliers, contractors, customers, shareholders and the local community and encouraging commitment and involvement from their employees to implement the Companies’ Environmental Policy and Objectives.

The Hills Group Limited Executive Board will act as the strategic decision policy making forum for environmental issues.  The General Managers of Hills Waste Solutions Ltd and Hills Quarry Products Ltd will implement the policy and be responsible for the review of performance against the set objectives.  Hills Group Limited will ensure that adequate training and resources are made available consistent with this Policy and Environmental Management System.
