The restoration of land “borrowed” for aggregate extraction is carried out to high standards and has resulted in a series of awards for the Group. View a gallery of restoration case studies.

Environment

Quarrying, waste management and property development serve vital social needs – but they also have the potential for conflict with the environment. The Hills Group accepts the resulting responsibility not just to minimise impact, but also to contribute wherever possible to a better and more sustainable long-term environment.

That commitment is formally set out in an environmental charter, which includes regular audits of all operations. Our environmental management system (EMS) allows us to manage our operations in line with defined environmental policies, objectives, relevant legislation and procedures. We seek continually to improve our environmental performance.

Working in harmony with local communities is central to the Hills philosophy. This extends to the provision of substantial support for bodies such as the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Cotswold Water Park Society that make major contributions to the local environment.
