Hills is entering its sixth consecutive year supplying a total waste management service to meet the local needs of global car manufacturer Honda.

With Hills' help, the prestige Swindon site is well on its way to reaching the target of zero waste to landfill by 2010. Managing waste professionally is a key consideration for the plant at South Marston, which has produced well over one million cars for the UK and export market. The plant celebrated ten years of car production in 1992 and now employs over 4,400 workers.

Aspire Defence

Aspire Defence is one of Hills’ newer total waste management partners. Aspire was formed to deliver a massive programme which will create modern new living and working environments for some 18,000 Army and civilian personnel across the garrisons of the Salisbury Plain Area and Aldershot.

Hills will coordinate the collection and recycling of waste from Wiltshire locations over a ten-year rebuild programme, maximising the recycling of waste streams. The service will include operation of a purpose-built waste recycling and transfer station. The project ably demonstrates Hills’ flexibility and dedication to waste recycling and innovation.

Case studies

One of the great strengths of Hills’ service lies in creating dynamic partnerships with customers requiring total waste management solutions. By managing all the waste removal from a particular site, it provides reassurance that legislation is being complied with by a reputable, audited contractor.  A key feature of each contract is the defining of goals such as reducing waste to landfill or targeting the reduction of specific waste streams.
