The application number is N/11/03524/OUT

Hills presented brief details on this application to the Town Development and Planning Committee meeting of Calne Town Council on Tuesday 15 November. View the presentation notes and drawings.

Why we chose this site

These new homes will form part of an urban extension to the northeast of Calne in the period 2016 to 2026.  This location was previously identified by Wiltshire Council because it is on unconstrained land with good accessibility to employment provision and easy access to the town centre.

In May 2011, the council reiterated this approach and confirmed the need for around 400 new homes within Calne that have not yet been allocated.  This will will provide a logical, coherent and substantial contribution to this allocation.

The Oxford Road development will meet the urban expansion needs envisaged for Calne by Wiltshire Council as well as deliver public open spaces, environmental improvements and contributions towards local infrastructure.

We believe the land is suitable for housing and could be developed without harming the character of the area or creating problems in terms of traffic, amenities or ecology.
